Marquez Article on Cotto vs FMJr.

On an interview by the El Nuevo Dia (PR News Paper) Juan Marquez advised Miguel to pressure FMJr., watch the counter punching, pressure FMJr., attack with combinations and watch and wait for the counterpunching.

He also stated that FMJr. is a great counterpuncher and has an outstanding defense.

He went to say that the most dificult will be to connect on FMJr. because he protects himself with shoulders and elbows. That he uses anything but his dont consider him as a dirty fighter.

Marquez also stated that Cotto will give FMJr. problems that this will be a very dificult fight for both fighters.

Lastly he closed by saying that FMJr. figths would be quite a bit more entretaining if he took more chances. If he takes more chances this could be a very interesting fight. But, if FMJr. takes chances.....Cotto, who is a great fighter, will capitalize on that and give (Cotto) the advantage.

Knows a lot more than you do lol. He is a technically sound boxer. He might make a good trainer after he decides to retire.

Sounds like solid advice. I know marquez knows a hell of alot more than me, but that is what i already figured cotto must do. And i think he will do it/try, question is, will he actually be able to do it against may. I think yes.

          Good analysis.

The bad part is that the more you pressure Mayweather the more you play into his counterpunches. You have to be willing to take 2 or 3 shots in order to land one of your own. At this point in his career I don't think Miguel's chin can stand up to that.

Yep, that sounds like a job for Margarita Plasterina.

I say that anyone who think Floyd will just blow Cotto out of the water doesn't know much about boxing. It will be just like Pac-JMM with people counting Cotto out well before the actual fight only to be disappointed by a close-competitive fight.

Marquez is right, only he failed to mention using that stiff Jab Cotto has, which will be the setup for landing on him without getting hit 3 times. That, mixed with Cotto's patience will win him the fight. Cotto hits harder and he can take shots but the way DLH was boxing Floyd was great when utilizing his jab, it showed how to do it. Then Ortiz comes and lands that left jab, right cross combo. You just can't go crazy on Floyd afterwards. Good advice and something I already thought he needed to do. Floyd definitely don't take that many chances but he's been forced to plant and trade more with his age and I think he takes a whipping on the 5th.

Oscars jab > Cottos Jab ......Mayweather nullified oscars jab with ease as he out landed Oscar in jabs in their fight.
