I dunno whether I'd eaten cheese but I had some seriously surreal dreams last night.
One of them was the Hatton-Maussa fight, which seemed so real at the time I can still remember it now I've woken up.
For the benefit of seeing whether I'm a sleeping Nostradamus, here's what happened:
ROUND ONE: Ricky's mind isn't quite on the job and the commentators are saying he's obviously been distracted by the Frank Warren court cases. He's trying to be a slick boxer and not walk into one of Maussa's wide swings. In fact, Ricky's being so cautious that Carlos is in danger of taking the first round... until the hardest right Ricky has ever thrown lands right in Maussa's stomach. Maussa struggles to make it up at nine, and sees out the rest of the round struggling for air.
ROUND TWO: A better round, though similar to the first. Again, another KD from a body shot, though it's not as hard as the first one. At this point though all the fight seems to have gone out of Maussa and Hatton is winning, though seems lucky as his mind still isn't into it.
ROUND THREE: The decisive round. The first was so close it looked like Maussa might get the upset. But here Ricky's bashing him up at will and it's clear it won't go to the end of the round. Suddenly, for no real reason that's discernable, about twenty members of the crowd on the right of the ringside start a fight, and a mini-riot threatens to break out. As the cheers for Hatton's performance escalate, someone throws a firework into the ring, which explodes like dynamite, knocking the ref over. He's okay, but the other ref (There were two refs in the ring? Hey, it was a dream, what can I tell you?) decides it's best to call it off as by this stage there's a massive riot in the crowd.
He stops the contest and announces Ricky the winner. Now, I know if it was a No Contest like that, it would be no result, but as I say, this was a dream. The crowd actually start booing Hatton as they wanted more for their money and the violence gets worse...
Sounds ****** now, but it was bloody scary at the time...
