However, there has to be more than just a comparison of styles in order to justify claiming that Anthony Dirrell would KO an undefeated commodity who just won a tournament against all top SMWs.
I'm not even saying that you're wrong. I am saying that you claim lacks any evidence ... making it pure conjecture.
Anthony Dirrell just fought his first 12 rounder in his last fight, and his first 10 rounder two fights ago. He's young, green and impressive against D level competition. He's never beaten a world champion. He's never fought a world champion.
I really think you're jumping the gun here. Just about anyone can look like dynamite against someone who isn't world class on any given night. Dirrell has A LOT to prove before I'll endorse him over Ward. His record is impressive in that he consistently goes for the KO, but he's used to fighting in 4 & 6 round fights. That's quite a factor.
Here's a better question:
Do you think Anthony Dirrell wins the Super Six?
I ask this because Ward faced different styles during that contest. He even went as far to face Bika outside of the tourney. The kid can adapt. I'm not hailing him as a masterboxer or even as elite. He is however, the best at 168 and he's proven it.
We don't know all of the factors concerning his decision not to face a mandatory. Right now, all we have is your opinion that an unproven commodity in Anthony Dirrell could possibly KO a proven commodity in Andre Ward.
I ain't buying that at this point. The odds won't reflect it. You could be 100% correct, but there are just too many intangibles that work against Dirrell's chances for anyone to agree with you at the current time.
This is basically the same thing people tried to pull with Margarito back in '06.
They said that Margarito was the most avoided man in boxing. They said that he was among the top at WW despite him not having one win to justify that claim. They said that the best were ducking him. They said that once he got his chance nobody would be able to stop him.
Then he fought Paul Williams and got beaten in '07.
Suddenly, no one was calling Margarito "avoided". Suddenly no one was ducking him.
That is .. until he beat Cotto.
Then, the Top Rank hype machine began that same crap all over again. They said the best were ducking him. They said he was unstoppable. Blah Blah Blah.
Six months later, he got knocked out by Shane Mosley.
Moral of the story?
People say lots of crap. Unless you prove your merit in the ring by beating the best, all the talk in the world amounts to nothing more than the same ole crap.
