I doubt Gamboa signed the contract to fight Rios if he no longer wants to be in a business relationship with Top Rank and is reportedly unhappy with the purse.

For a company that has even the recent history of Top Rank, it is not their protocol to press for a fight of this magnitude so soon (where there weren't finalizing announcements until last week (less than 2 months before the fight)) unless they had ulterior motives. Gamboa's been in Vegas (Top Rank HQ) not Alaska, they could have seen the writing on the wall and decided to try to pressure Gamboa to stay in a relationship he didn't want to continue.

Gamboa-Rios would be a great fight, but Gamboa should do what is best for him. Though I want to see the fight (one of the best fights that can be made in boxing), if that means leaving the puppeteer and Gamboa-Rios not happening so be it.

It all seemed to happen very fast and I admittely got caught up in the prospects of the fight that I blew off the factors that made no sense knowing Top Ranks history. Tickets going on sale before the first press conference? Is there a signed contract with Gamboa's name on it or not? Why would Gamboa show up for a presser he hasn't signed for? They may very well know the fight isn't going down and trying run Brandon out there to the press and make Gamboa look like a moron. Along with all of the fans who salivate over this fight and bought tickets the first day assuming everything was on the up.

I'm still willing to put on blinders and hope this is a PR strategy to put these two names in headlines to get people talking up the bout. But with other stuff we've ready from Miami seems like there is more to this and the bout might really be in question. FFFFuuuuuuuukk

Like I said before, I dont care about the technical crap...ALL(THE ONLY) thing I care about, is Floyd having his fighters fight on TV with their OWN DATE...I havnt seen a fighter get this far with his promotional company in a while...the last guy was Oscar I think...he's taken it to a whole new level though

If Mayweather manages to steal Gamboa away from Top Rank, what slap in the face that is to Arum. For sure there will be no Mayweather vs Manny after that.
