If this was Shobox it MIGHT be okay, but this will most likely get the budget of a normal showtime fight.

Besides this awful fight, fights like Mares vs Morel? Really? Who wants to see that?

I really agree with Showtime on passing Bute-Froch, but some of the other fights they've made are like "really? This fight?"
The opener of Mares vs Morel is Moreno vs De la Mora. How the hell did that double header get approved? Well I know how...But, really that should not be a double header. Mares-Morel should not be the main event.

I wonder now that Thomas Hauser is a consultant for HBO if he will focus his anti-network pieces on Showtime.

I'm starting to think Greenburg>>>Espinoza. Seriously I am more impressed with the fights that Greenburg is putting on NBC Sports along with Main Events than what Espinoza is putting on Showtime.

Does Greenburg work for the boxing part of NBC Sports? I thought it was just mostly for documentaries.

Also, I think it's way too early to make a rash judgment on Espinoza. For the turds he's giving us, he also put on Lopez-Salido II and Berto Ortiz II. He needs to learn how to play hardball and not be a pushover.

He can do that with Bute since they have him under contract, but I've yet to see it with Haymon clients or Golden Boy.

I think one of the true tests of Espinoza's early term is if he handles Andre Ward's return fight with the tough approach they did to Bute. Showtime only has one option on Ward's next fight and they would be moronic to waste it for his mandatory.

Espinoza doesn't seem to have the ability to judge which fights are good quality fights yet, which could take time.

In all honesty, I think what this comes down to is how Espinoza is spending their budget. Is he making ****ty fights? Somewhat yes, but if he's getting them cheap and allowing bigger fights for the end of the year?

I think that will be the case. That's something that Greenburg ****ed up the most in his term at HBO, he constantly overpaid for fights that screwed the budget at the end.

      edit:

      Also, welcome back.

Taylor must reallly need the money or the ego gratification to haul his over-the-hill body and vastly diminished skills into the ring against carefully chosen opponents to make him look good for one more big payday....
