I'm sorry, but nobody at 147 is ducking Sergio Martinez.
He is the middleweight champion of the world, who cuts to 160. He has no business calling out guy's two divisions below him and 14lbs lighter than him, which would be much more on fight night.
If Chad Dawson called out Martinez to fight at 170, do you think he'd go for it? Would it be ducking to say no? Of course it wouldn't. Fight guy's that are your own size and stop complaining about smaller guy's who you have no business calling out.

Why 170? Sergio said he'd go to 154, so if u were unbiased you would have said
168 clearly. Sergio didnt ask for a cw.
Against another guy who is naturally smaller. The 154 for that fight means very little, it's just something Cotto feels more comfortable with, perhaps mentally.
I wasn't referring to Floyd himself, it was a general statement on fighters calling out smaller guy's. I don't like to see it at any weight and with any fighter. Pacquiao shouldn't be above 147, Mayweather shouldn't be above 147 and the same goes for most fighters. Stepping out for a major pay-day I can understand, but when there are big fights to be made against guy's your own size, I don't like it.
All anyone has to do is watch the Dzinziruk fight. Martinez dismantled Dzinziruk with the jab solely and Dzinziruk was regarded as one of the best jabbers in the entire sport. I think if he were to utilize it as his major offensive attack, he would beat anyone he faces with ease (within reason, not talking about a smw guy or a lhw). He doesn't use it enough but when he does, his low right always catches guys of guard because they can't see his glove (out of the field of vision).

Floyd is clearly willing to step out of his division to fight alvarez and cotto, why shouldnt sergio try and get some? Wouldnt you to go down one division when you're 37 and your moneymaking days are limited.
Idk about everyone else, but i dont see what the problem is about sergio calling out people. He went up to mw to fight pavlik and he's said he cn still fight 154. Thats on him. He shouldnt be mocked for calling out a ww cuz he stepped up for a chance at the mw title.
Floyd fought a guy 2 weight classes below him recently and didnt even try and cut weight. Can u imagine if sergio said he'd come to 154 and came in at 157 vs floyd. U think floyd would actually fight?
nahh...drug testing won't work because martinez will take it without a question just to get a fight with floyd. sergio has no negotiating leverage like pac does.
a flat fee tactic won't work either because sergio would be ok with that. martinez is not a ppv attraction...not yet.
floyd would come up with a new innovative excuse to duck martinez
You guys act like Floyd can tell the future and perfectly plans out a ducking strategy. How does he know fighters would prevent random blood testing and go against their words to not accept the lesser share?

Of course. I just didnt feel it necessary to share that blatantly obvious observation.
He's a very versatile fighter and a southpaw. His conditioning is excellent and he and sarmiento are vastly underrated as strategic boxing minds.
Floyd loses a lot of his natural advantages in that fight and sergio's length and speed would be a huge problem for floyd.

He doesn't; that's the whole point of this thread.
It's funny because in one breath people like Walt Liquor call Floyd "******", but in the next breath Floyd's the smartest human ever and can predict the future by knowing guys won't accept drug tests; as if Floyd as some kind of psychic hotline or something.

If there is a negotiation between two en****** with equal leverage in the negotiation, the easiest way out of the negotiation is to take the negotiation public and slander your opponent. Its guaranteed to get you out of the negotiation. And to save face. If two parties of similar powef negotiate along traditional lines, an agreement will be attained almost every time because of their positioning.
Negotiation from different power positions is vastly different, which is why floyd is starting this ridiculous "no 50/50" nonsense. He's trying to change the perception of his power in the fight negotiation.

The difference is though, I think he see's them as money fights. Just like Pacquiao and several other guy's, Floyd knows that his legacy is secure and he can look at the money at this stage, for better or worse. Alvarez and Cotto bring fan bases and money that Sergio can't, which is an unfortunate situation considering his level of ability. When's the last time Floyd fought someone who didn't bring a large financial upside with them?
Sergio calling those guy's out at first was absolutely fine and was actually an interesting spin. When it became perfectly clear that neither guy was interested though, the calling out every other week did get a little tiring as it was very obviously for nothing and falling on deaf ears.
Either of 'the two' fighting Sergio would be great, for fans and the sport in general, but that's not how they do things sadly. And no, I don't believe any of them would still take the ring if Sergio missed the weight limit, even by half a pound.
