Only 6 years ago (seems a lot shorter), now I'm not gonna overrated him, he was no Floyd Mayweather but he had a hell of a lot of raw talent, went from king of the world to nothing in around 5 fights.
Damn, Jermain Taylor..what a waste

Agreed.
Jermain's problem was that he was mentally weak. If it were anything else he would have jumped right back in just like Zab Judah always did. He must have switched trainers 2 or 3 times. That's a telltale sign of broken confidence and a weak will to persevere.
His talent was tremendous.
Another problem is that I think Jermain fell in love with his own power. When he first turned pro, he was a boxer. As he went on to win belts, he became a boxer/brawler. He abandoned his beautiful jab and started to go toe to toe in spots where he didn't have to.
Jermain Taylor - great potential, but wasn't the smartest of fighters by any means.
I think he could come back strong under a guy like McGirt or Shields.Comment

I was just talking to my cousin about this a few weeks ago.
Definetly was on his way to being one of the greatest middleweights.
Nastiest jab in the game, damn near single handedly defeated B-Hop with it.
He should've never gone above 160.Comment
