I think Gamboa is gonna bring the speed but not the power. I got Rios on this one!

Gamboa wins this one. He is too fast. Even if his power doesnt carry up the divisions I have a hard time seeing Brandon walking through his punches. Gamboa's foot speed will be too fast in comparison to Rios. Rios will be slow and flat footed. I doubt if Rios will even be able to land anything good in this fight. Despite Gamboa's tendency to get knocked down early.

Defensively Brandon will not be able to handle Gamboa's lunging fast punches. If all attributes are equal except for speed the speedy fighter wins. I think the only category Brandon beats Gamboa in is chin, (heart as well).

The reason why Pacquiao was so succesful in moving up divisions was not just his power it was mainly his foot speed. Even though Gamboa has technical flaws his speed prevents those from being exploited by regular fighters (similar to Pacquiao). The only fighter that stands a chance with a Gamboa who is a superior athelete to most fighters is a superb technician like JMMarquez or Broner. The only fighters who can beat a Rios are atheletes (gamboa, donaire, broner who is both an athelete and a technician), technicians (Marquez, Broner ), or stronger punchers with good chins (Maidana).

Also if you look at recent Robert Garcia interviews his confidence in this fight has diminished.

      Summary:

To beat Rios you need at least A rated foot speed, B or more rated power, and B or more rated technique.

To beat Gamboa you A rated timing, A rated technique.

      Prediction: Gamboa by stoppage 8.

Hmmmm damn I have Rios on this one. It all comes down for me if Gamboa's power will actually surprise Rios and if he can actually take Rios punches.. Rios is a demolisher for real.. if not... I see Gamboa bent on the canvas in the 9th hurt.

I think Gamboa's speed and pure boxing ability will be key.

He'll pepper Rios with punches he won't see and maybe even hurt Rios bad during the middle of the fight. I got Gamboa by UD

I'm leaning towards rios because of the size advantage and the fact that gamboa is chinny and rios hits like a mule. But I would not be suprised at all if gamboa boxes brandons ears off.

Big fan of both fighters cant wait for this one!

Yeah this fight isn't talked about much and it's a good match up with two great fighters.

Another factor will be seen at weigh in, whether or not Rios can make the weight comfortably. If he can, Rios TKO Gamboa rd10-11?.

IIRC Gamboa has already fought at or near the "new" weight, that remains to be seen also..

Great fight! I like the brawler over the boxer in this one.
