  • Comments Thread For: Escobedo in the Mix for Adrien Broner - If He Beats Smith

BoxingScene.com has been advised by sources within Golden Boy that Vicente Escobedo will step to the forefront of viable challengers for Adrien “The Problem” Broner’s next junior lightweight title defense if the former Olympian can get by Lonnie Smith this Saturday on TeleFutura’s “Solo Boxeo” series.

Not a good fight. Broner should fight Salgado next. He can beat anybody at 130, why waste your time with someone that already got whooped by Katsidis and Guerrero.

broner is a great talent, but the fighters he fights are class c at best, we need to see him with someone better

Not a bad fight. He at least durable. Broner could make a big statement with a KO.

Somewhat agree. Those fights were at 135 though.

Escobedo took both 12 and 10.

So like I said if Broner can get the KO he would make a very big statement.

Escobedo didn't get whooped, they were both all action fights that he lost by a point or two. At least Broner is stepping up in competition against somebody his own size. Escobedo is his toughest fight to date, even tougher than little Ponce De Leon.

                This.
I'd like to see that fight. Escobedo is no "c class" fighter at all. I don't think Broner is ****** enough to engage in a war , I see him outboxing Escobedo for a UD, stopping him would be a real statement.

Getting whooped was a bad choice of words on my part, apologies. But I don't see why he'd take this fight, unless he fights at least 2-3 more times this year as well. He should fight someone like Salgado next, unify the titles at 130.

The Guerrero fight wasn't close, that was scored a wide UD, as it was. While I don't think he was "whooped" by Katsidis, it definitely wasn't a SD to me. I thought Katsidis won a clear UD.

I just think it's a pointless fight. I call it like I see it. He'd benefit much more by fighting Salgado next. He's the #2 rated SFW, IBF SFW champ, beat Mendez. It's a much better fight.
