His story is unique because he is a Ivy league educated player that had already been in the league for a year plus and wasnt getting any play time, then he blew up and has been doing a very good job. Does him being asian play a part in him getting the publicity he has been getting? OF COURSE but its not the sole reason behind it.

I'm so tired of athletes playing the race card, once you've made it to the professional level race has very little to do with whatever sport you play. I heard a radio interview with Floyd and Rude Jude and the first defence Floyd played was "You white ain't you? AINT YOU?!?!" Now what in the hell does a radio announcers skin color have to do with his opinion on Floyd career? Especially when he works on a HIP HOP STATION? Just so sick of racism in the world these days, there are way more important things going on.

On another point im super excited for Floyd's fight with Cotto.

It isn't solely because he's Asian, but it's primarily because he's Asian. And how can it not be otherwise? He is playing in a league predominantly featuring African-American players. By default, he is going to stand out considerably in comparison to the typical African-American player that the league is filled with. This is not a phenomenon. And it's rare to see an Asian player doing what he's done.

But it's absolutely not rare if he were African-American. There are plenty of African-American players who went undrafted and are more talented than a bunch presently in the NBA too. There were some that went undrafted, graduated from an Ivy League school, and still managed to play in the NBA. The only difference is many of them didn't get the opportunity that Lin had as far as playing time goes. And that is OK. Lin almost got shafted too. That's just how the politics of the business is. The other factors surrounding Lin's story is just icing on the cake.

But Lin's story is primarily about race. Unless you are blind. Then the other equation is just that he was really, really putting on a show. And he deserves the praise. But let's not be silly, the over the top publicity is due to race. And only race.

The hype and I do mean hype.. Had a lot to do with him being Asian American. He is a mediocre to good player. Teams are going to make him start to play more in a half court set like the Heat did and he will look lost. Never mentioning most of the point guards he was guarding was scoring just as many points. Funny how they tried to compare him setting a scoring record against current and former NBA stars that came into the league from high school and college. Lin has been in the league a year and a half. Only making it a footnote that he holds the NBA record for most turnovers in a 7 game span. There is a reason he is no longer in Dallas and GS. New York will find out soon the reason he wasn't drafted.

No the fact that in 1997 he was the first black person to win the Masters at Augusta was a big deal because of his race he doesn't want to admit that but that was the case

Listen people..... Basketball players are getting a lot of money and fame to do what they do so what's the big deal with Jeremy Lin getting some shine tto considering he was on the bench for most of his career? Being Asian ain't help him at that point in his professional career. If anything it hurt him because no one would even imagine that a Asian basketball player would be that effective. Floyd voiced his opinion and there is a such thing as freedom of speech but Floyd is always the one to put himself out there as the black stereo type that other races paint pictures on. Floyd is a great boxer but his personality is shallow and insecure. You eating so let the next man eat, whatever color he is. Just imagine if Jeremy Lin would have said something like that about Floyd. He would have went ballistic. Floyd is an ego maniac period. I'm happy for Jeremy Lin. I'm happy for everyone who can excel at what they love to do.

What Floyd said about Lin wasn't that bad. The only thing he was completely wrong about was that Black Players don't get the same praise, they do. He should have just stopped when he said "Black players do what he's doing every night", because that is true. I don't really care about anything he said, oh well. I don't weigh Floyd's opinion on Basketball all that much.

While Jeremy Lin is good, he is a bit overrated. He's a pretty good scorer, a sub-par defender, and he turns the ball over far too often. He has played like dog s**t several times so far, and even when he's played well, he turns the ball over way too much. He's pretty good, not really good or great at all. While the hype isn't about him being Asian, it certainly doesn't hurt that he is.

Don't put Kevin Love in the same category as Fredette and Morrison.

Floyd was right. Jeremy Lin is a good player whose hype is because he is asian. No need to move away from the truth.

Yeah, but race has played a part in everything in like forever. Fact of the matter is that Tiger Woods was/is a great golfer, end of story.
