Prime Joan Guzman vs. Prime Manny Pacquiao at 130???

In 2006-2007, Guzman was in the running for a fight with Manny Pacquiao at 130 lbs, but it never materialized. Before Guzman's struggles to make weight in 2008-2010, he was a very quick and gifted fighter. Pacquiao was obviously the top 130 lb guy from 2005-2008.

Who do you think would have won that fight???

I still think Pacquiao would have beat him, but Joan Guzman would have been a tough fight during 2006-2007 at 130.

Guzman would have beaten Pacquiao. I've always been very confident in that.

Guzman would have been a very tough fight for him no doubt, but even as a Guzman fan I think Pacquiao would have beat him in a close fight.

It's possible Pacquiao could've gotten the decision but that's cause judges don't differentiate between aggressivness and effective aggressivness.

Plus, Guzman would have cut Pacquiao's work rate in half.

Very true. When ever Pac seems to fight a very gifted boxer, for instance Marquez, his work rate is greatly decreased each time. That's the main reason why I think Floyd beats Manny.

I remember back in 06-07 I was really hoping Pacquiao-Guzman would go down at 130, because Guzman was right up there with JMM and Pac as the best SFW in the world.

So i think Guzman on 130 could be a dominance beating to all "creme le creme" of taht weght for thoso years. I cant see to JMM taking a win from Guzman "No Way" at 130 and Guzman on his prime. Also Pac could be a victim by UD, because on those days Pac was a Boxer a lot more vulnerable then today. His defence was a lot open and also in attack he expose much more than today.

            Guzman by wide UD.

It would be a tough fight. Guzman at 126 and 130 in his prime was a very good fighter. It's a shame he got careless with his weight and then ended up fighting nobody basically from 2009-2011. He looked alright his last bout at 140, but definitely not what he was in his prime, he looked a little slower obviously. We'll see this Friday on FNF what he looks like as well. If he looks pretty good again, I'd love to see Guzman fight the Paris-Judah winner in June or July.

I always thought Joan Guzman and Zahir Raheem would have beat Pacquiao, nothing against Pacquiao but...

I don't think people know just how good and talented Guzman is, if it wasn't for the weight issues it is no question in my mind that Guzman would be a Top 5-10 P4P fighter...I still think he is a serious threat even at 35 now
