Certainly I didn't watch last night's bout thinking "wow.... Povetski looks like dog ****. Who knew?"

Yes. Older men, shot fighters and clubfighters.

I think the selfish Teddy was afraid of Povetkin losing to the prime Huck and that's why he backed away.

However, after working with the capable Zimin for the next few months, I think Povetkin will look better in his next fight.

      Correct.

They weren't fighting for the heavyweight title. They were fighting for the WBA regular belt, ie a piece of used toilet paper with sparkles on it.

I wonder when Tyson Fury will be "exposed"?

I don't agree with Maske's assessment. Atlas made Povetkin pay attention to defense in my opinion. However he hasn't and never will have a solid defense because he simply doesn't have the instincts for it. His timing for avoiding punches is all wrong and the awful technique of ducking below the waist for slipping punches that haven't yet been thrown doesn't help.

Povetkin's strength is that he is a game fighter and this is emphasized when he turns up to a fight in shape. This time he was not in shape. If Povetkin wishes to improve, he should pay more attention to his conditioning while focusing on offensive skills.

I'm afraid he will never have anything resembling an adequate defense.

When a man is serious, he sacrifices himself. To blame your trainer when you didn't run far enough, didn't skip the sweets, didn't do all that was required, that's just making excuses. Povetkin has a mirror, he saw what everybody else saw before the fight. Maske needs to quit moaning, he sounds like he's a PR man for Russian trainers. They didn't help him against Virgil hill. A trainer can take you to the water, but he can't drink it for you.

As long as he keeps fighting the Martin Rogan type fighters of the world he never will be.

[QUOTE=Freedom.;11826824]Maske beat Virgil Hill in the rematch.

Did he blame and fire his trainer after the loss, or did he knuckle down and train like he was supposed to for the rematch?
