  • Comments Thread For: Maske Blames Atlas For Povetkin's Flaws With Huck

Henry Maske, former champion and German boxing legend, placed some of the blame on Teddy Atlas, the former trainer of heavyweight Alexander Povetkin (24-0, 16KOs), for the Russian champion's struggles on Saturday night in Stuttgart, Germany against WBO cruiserweight king Marco Huck (34-2, 25KOs). During the course of the fight, Povetkin was hurt, he was visibly exhausted and he was lucky to win a majority decision to retain his WBA "regular" title.

That's a heavyweight crock of 5hit! What ever happened to the men in boxing. Taking a loss and giving credit where credit is due? Even Drago did it to Rocky. lol Povetkin didn't even lose and excuses are being made and the blame game is being played.

    Booooooo from the USA!

Atlas definitely screwed Povetkin up. He tried to turn him into something he wasn't and as a result ruined Povetkin's unspectacular but solid style. But poor conditioning has to rest on Povetkin himself. That played a large part in his struggles last night.

I have to correct the author of this article - Maske said that the lack on stamina is due to Atlas training concept...Povetkin's defence improved under Atlas but his stamina diminished.

And as being published, Zimin just joined Povetkin's camp a month ago - Povetkin's manager looks like to be an absolute amateur when it comes to making sure his fighter has the best options to prepare for such an important fight.

The quality of Povetkin's opponents really slipped while Atlas was around so he didn't have to be all that good.

Povetkin had problems with his stamina in the past and his very bad defence. Watch the Chambers fight, which IMO he lost.
