With the Dawson vs Pascal situation, let's be honest where the heck was dawson supposed to fight and get that much money? As much as I like Dawson he's not a draw at all, which really isn't Shaw's fault entirely. I for one like seeing the guy fight but he gets so comfortable in there at times it just looks like he's bored and doesn't step on the gas at all. I think Shaw really screwed up with Bradley, he could be promoting him right now for this Pac fight. It's kind of funny saying this but I don't think he knows how to market black fighters
Dawson's big problem has always been his personality, which I'm happy he is startingto turn around(sit down with ya tight jeans LMFAO it never gets old)..But Shaw still could have put money behind him more imo,he beats Adamek,Shaw should have paid to have him do some interviews or open work outs...He does not do that because it cost money, money he himself is not willing to put up..That kind of thing stunts a good fighters growth...Chinny is not even promoted right tbh,Chinny has fans because he is exciting and talks a lot,not cause of Shaws promoting talents...I think guys like Shaw are good for young fighters in away, because he will put his fighters in tough..But any good fighter knows if they wanna get paid they have to leave him...He wanted Bradley to fight Devon for 500k,if not for Bradleys manager that is exactly what would have happen...

What I recall most about Shaw was that before Corrales had his fatal accident, he was reported to be having problems over money with Shaw. Also, that Shaw was not as helpful to the bereaved family as he could have been.

Also, he had no business allowing Corrales to fight Castillo when Castillo was at least 7 lbs overweight (that he admitted to) and when one of his team was caught stretching out his leg in the crowd around the scales, pressing his toe to the side of the scales, so it would weigh lighter. Corrales was KO'd that time early in the fight.

It seems to me that if he had a fighter and another promoter wanted to get a fight with his fighter it was pretty easy. Anybody know anything I may be missing?
he doesn't have the resources that top rank has.

he doesn't have the connections that golden boy has.

top rank has the money and will to do their independent ppv events if showtime or hbo date is not available.

golden boy has the connections to hold events in vegas and on hbo dates.

without a top rank or golden boy type connection , you're stuck pretty much on non-televised fights unless it's a fight that interests hbo/showtime enough to buy it.

being shaw might not hurt if you are already a big name or established top fighter but it hurts you when you're a prospect trying to earn a name and recognition.

          Shaw is a total jerk-off.

I went to the media workouts for Dirrell-Abraham and was asking them some questions on behalf of Bscene.

This was a week after the Pac-Clottey fight and I asked Dirrell something along the lines of "Having watched Abraham fight numerous times, he does not counterpunch or return fire as long as his opponent is throwing punches, much like Clottey. Do you think you can take advantage of that and use your offense as your best defense and really impress people who are expecting you to fight a negative fight?"

Shaw was like "that's a ****** question". I said "why is that?" He says "you think Abraham is gonna just stand around like Clottey did and do nothing?" I said "If Andre throws enough punches yes." Shaw says "next question, we're not even gonna answer that."

Was glad to see Dirrell leave him cause he's a good kid and Shaw is an arrogant piece of ****.

its mostly economic. we have a coke/pepsi situation with top rank and golden boy in the US right now, it has proven to be atleast an "OK" business model

He wasn't really working with premium prospects except Dirrell, certainly not the most exciting crop of guys but got them on TV and made them good money.

He could have certainly done better to build them up as attactions, but he gt them tons of exposure they would not have got because if they were with a big time promoter guys like Dawson, Bradley and even Dirrell would likely be after thoughts and have a hard time getting on TV.

He took them as far as he could though, but I don't think he did that bad but he is a jackass, a jerk and pretty lazy wanting networks to do the heavy lifting instead of doing actual promotions himself.

whatever personal problems he had with specific fighters, it's probably all true and I'm not giving him a pass for it, but I think all other reasons aside these fighters thought they could have better financial success in the future without shaw. as time goes by he gets lower on the totem pole of promoters
