This is a decent match-up, I don't think Vargas has enough power to hurt Gomez. If Gomez is healthy at 147, he is a legitimate threat.

Vargas doesn't have any particular outstanding qualities, but he is a decent boxer that throws a nice variety of punches and brings a high workrate. As others have said, not much power, not the best defensively either. Gomez would represent a fairly big step up in class for Vargas, as Gomez is very well-rounded as a fighter, with much more experience, and also brings a high workrate. I would see Gomez winning the matchup if it happens, probably playing the role of pressure fighter and wearing Vargas down as the fight goes, but it being a nice action affair.

Gomez is a step up to the b class,if i were him i would find a guy who wasnt as established as Gomez,Vargas is young let him grow into a man before you send him in with the dogs.
