    Diaz-Sim postponed!/ Campbell vs Diaz?

    All via-btalk.

"The highly anticipated WBA title rematch between Houston’s Juan Diaz and former titleholder and mandatory opponent Lakva Sim of Mongolia has been postponed due to injury suffered by Sim while in training. Diaz faces a long period of inactivity, having only defended his title once in ’05, versus Billy Irwin in January, and fought a 10 rounder versus Arthur Cruz in July. Sim, coming off a brutal victory over Ebo Elder, was reportedly cut over his eye during sparring with trainer Joe Goosen. Eerily reminiscent, Diaz-Elder was postponed last April when Juan suffered the same injury."

"Nate Campbell ready to face Juan Diaz on short notice!

November 23, 2005 - PRESS RELEASE: Upon hearing that Lakva Sim had to withdraw from the Dec 15 WBA lightweight title fight with Juan Diaz, Nate Campbell's promoter, One Punch Productions, has advised all parties concerned that Campbell is willing to step in on short notice and challenge Diaz for the WBA Lightweight Title. Campbell, 27-4, 23 KO's, and ranked #8 by the WBA, would further agree that if victorious, his first defense of the WBA title would be against Lakva Sim, or any other fighter the WBA should mandate. "Juan Diaz is one of the fighters I want to fight" said Campbell. "I want the top fighters in the lightweight division. Problem is, most of these guys won't fight me unless I'm a mandatory. Then they'll either have to fight me, or hand me the title. Here's an opportunity for Diaz to catch me on short notice. He can face me now, or he can face me later. But one thing's for sure, he's gonna HAVE to face me eventually, or vacate his WBA title. Call Greg Leon, Call One Punch, and call Joe DeGuardia, and let's do this. Dec 15 is just fine. Merry Christmas to me........"

    hmm

That'd be a good fight. I thought Campbell was done but seeing him in Tampa vs Diamond has changed my mind. He could give Diaz a real fight.

    I hope it comes off.

And the rematch with Sim was not highly anticipated. lol...

Maxboxing say that Goosen is going to postpone the fight until mid-January. Glen Johnson will fill the spot on Dec 15th with Andre Ward as the undercard.

Why watch Diaz pummel an oak tree like Sim again when he can match up with a machine the The Galaxy Warrior? This is a much better matchup and if Nate keeps up the same activity level he had against Kid Diamond he has a shot at this one.

What happened to Diaz-Elder? Is Juan ducking him now?

EDIT: I guess the Sim win over Eber set this one up. But I'd still rather see Juan take on Ebo.

Guess you don't like your fellow Houston-ite, lol.

I would like to see Nate put together something of a comeback, so I will go with him here. I don't think Juan's ever faced someone with such quick hands and feet before, so I think he will be in tough.

Sim and Billy the Kid were made for Diaz, and he didn't impress me too much against Lorcy, so I give Nate the nod here.
