Hey guys,
I might not post too much on here, but I read everything and I am as hardcore as a fan as anyone. Please take what I mean seriously because all I want is for boxing to grow back into what it was.
Here it is.
MMA has been around for approximately 25 years now. Boxing has been around (in it's current form) for around 150 years. Look where they both are today.
MMA is largely just seen as the UFC now because of Dana White and his excellent branding and promotion, he's turned the UFC into a monopoly and it's a fantastic brand. They produce great cards and get the best to constantly fight the best. Whether or not you like MMA, Dana White has been amazing for it.
Like basketball, when people think of basketball, they think of NBA, nothing else. When you think of MMA, you think of UFC, when you think of boxing, you think of, uhhhhhh, see where I'm getting at?
If boxing could somehow turn into a single BRAND like the NBA, NFL or UFC then it could be incredible. The cards will be packed, the merchandise would be awesome and the BEST will be made to the fight the BEST.
Who could put something like this together? Who has the money, the contacts, the experience, the love of the sport? One guy:
DANA WHITE.
Dana White has repeatedly said he is a HUGE boxing fan. Why can't he do the same thing he's done for MMA with the UFC with boxing?
Yeah, it might take 5, 10, 20 years. But I believe he could do it.
If he can make a brand that the fans love and that the fighters want to be apart of, who knows, perhaps people like Bob Arum will be forced to shut down.
I say we try and get in contact with Dana White, form a petition to show the interest and demand, and see where it can be taken from there.
This is OUR sport. We're the people who pay to watch it and love it. If we want to be better then WE are the ones who should take the first step.
Please take a minute to consider this and give your suggestions.
Also, please, keep this civil, no trolling or insulting each other. This is for the benefit of our sport. Boxing.
Thank you for your time.
