damn is that all people on this forum know about in boxing..."POWER" ?
I agree, skills are paramount. But there are other factors: stamina, speed, heart, intelligence, chin, size and, yes, power. Power is such an important component to a boxer's arsenal that a fighter with enough of it is said to have a "puncher's chance."

Gamboa and Rios have different characteristics and abilities. The real question will be what combination of those traits will produce a winner. It's not so easy to tell. Yuri's speed and skills are superior, but Brandon has an edge in other departments. The imbalances are so great that it makes the fight very interesting to consider.

In a recent poll of who members thought would win this match-up, the result was very close. This is going to be a great fight.

    War GAMBOA!

Idk if anyone has asked this already, and im sorry if someone did, but how credible of a victory would it be if rios was to come out wit a victory?

I've seen Gamboa hurt by way weaker opponents than Rios those of whom I can't even recall them by name, but Rios is a straight up beast and he might overwhelm Gamboa in the end, I don't care how fast gambi is go ask Acosta if quickness and skill helped him..
Like the other guys said, he's never really been hurt, he even took that elbow pretty well. Also, if Rios thought Acosta was quick and slick, he's got another thing coming. Gamboa is way better than Acosta in pretty much every way, except for reach. He probably even punches harder.

Still hell of a scary fight for Gamboa fans.

Gamboa is just that good.He is one of the few that make that can make that transition to the higher weight.Rios reminds me of Margarito.Gamboa can beat Rios IMHO.

Rios will have some moments in the fight.Gamboa will be too fast and a superior boxer than Rios.I think Rios will be smarter not to rush in recklessly. It might take Gamboa awhile to break Rios down.In the end the hand speed and power is going to take their effect.

              GAMBOA TKO 9.

I seen Gamboa vs Jimenez back in 2008 in Primm, Nevada where Jimenez landed a solid right and dropped Yuri. There was another fight to where i seen him get dropped too but afterwards kept his composer to go on and dominate them fights. It's gonna be an exciting fight to watch and I like Gamboa but i don't think he's gonna be able to handle the power and pressure

                  .
It's a scary fight for anyone at lightweight. Brandon's a monster at 135.

Who knows how the extra weight will affect Gamboa? My guess is that his speed won't be noticeably affected. Stamina might take a small hit. But I believe Yuri's power will increase. That's not to say that Rios will be getting ****** around, Brandon's still the bigger man, but the added pounds will make Gamboa's punches a little more substantial. As I've already said, the different elements in this match-up are going to make it an interesting fight.

Twelve rounds is a long time to avoid getting caught. Standing and trading is out of the question. Yuri will have to move all night long. That means serious conditioning. The later rounds will tell the tale.
