A few things from last night

I travelled to München (I have a good friend there) and I watched the Vitali fight last night. First off, it was clear to me around the sixth round that Vitali was struggling with an injury of some sort. He just wasn't able to use his left to any effect. He has been a great champion, with a higher percentage of KOs to his name than any other world champion in the history of boxing, so I wish him well.

I must admit, Chisora looked good. He had clearly gotten into the shape of his life for this one, and I think he could've lasted another three or four rounds at least. He was not evasive enough, though, and I think that ultimately cost him the fight. He needs to work on his combinations, too. As for Haye and Chisora's fight afterwards, Chisora may be a woman beater, but Haye acted ******ly.

I would love to see the former champ Haye and Chisora 'get it on' because it would be an interesting clash of styles, one of power and strength (Chisora) versus technique and speed (Haye), and they clearly despise each other. They debased the sport of boxing terribly, though. Speaking to some English guys after the fight, it was clear that they were just as embarrassed by the behaviour of their compatriots as everyone else. Images of people being cut badly by tripods and camermen having their expensive equipment damaged is not the kind of message we want to convey about our once classy and gentlemanly sport, is it?
