It is not too late to change.

You don't have to become a completely different fighter to dramatically change your choices and approach in the ring.

We've known that PWill needed a new team since his loss to Quintana. The man is loyal, which is not as bad characteristic to have as a man, but it could prove to be his undoing as a professional.

It is business after all, and PWill needs to see himself as a brand that needs every advantage he can get.

If he's hell-bent on keeping the same style, I think he needs to get a better strengthening/conditioning coach. Put more hurting inside that volume punching. At times last night he was landing big punches that looked like they were having little effect on Ishida, even though he was clearly dominating him.

Agree. Its hard to leave the trainer/team that has helped you get to a title.

I agree, but the problem with Team Williams is that they clearly are arrogant.

Anyone believing that they have no need for improvement clearly has an ego problem.

Even Roy Jones at his VERY BEST decided to work on body punching to improve his fight game.

Williams probably won't ever be throwing more power because he doesn't sit on his punches and throws a lot of arm punches.

What he could improve on is feints, defense and quite frankly reading footwork. Martinez only caught Williams because Paul commits from awkward angles even when his opponent is far enough away to be out of harm's way, but close enough to capitalize on his mistakes.

Watch any PWill fight and you see him get so into volume punching that he doesn't even factor in what his opponent is doing because apparently his Team is telling him "Just keep on punching and you'll win".

Boxing is a game of chess. PWill's team has him playing checkers. The kid has lots of promise but a man without a plan in the ring is already half beaten.

I dig PWill but he's no RJJ or Floyd who can casually coast to a victory. He's got to get his **** together or be ready to slur ALL of his words in a few years.

I thought last nights performance was excellent, he hit Ishida with everything but the kitchen sink! He hit him with some hard shots too. I think Ishida just takes a really good punch. But yeah, a new coach like Steward would do him alot of good. He busted Ishida up though and he took a ton of punishment so I don't think that Williams deserves critisizm at least not for that fight. And also I don't think Williams has a bad chin, he just got hit with the perfect punch against Martinez, in that respect it was a lucky punch, it was perfect and Williams didn't see it, so to land that punch again, would be unlikely.
