I never said Haye acted in the proper fashion.

I said he was right to put a right hand on Chisora before he tried yet another scumbag move, which would have made him 3-for-3 over the weekend in classless moves on another fighter. The tripod thing was also a joke, punching him was not.

That's understandable, a few months back I had a brawl with some bouncer after he grabbed one of my friends (woman) in a head lock. When people got in the way I tried whacking him in the head with a stool without thinking that I could walk away at that point.

When you're in danger, your instincts kick in, adrenaline rush/fight or flight. When the danger is over it generally takes a while to process.

If I had more than one person after me (in this case 3), I would have grabbed the nearest thing to me too, just to even things up on the playing field. Clearly by his quote, he too realised things were getting way, way over the top and he might not get a license again to fight. That is all that quote shows.

He did what he felt was necessary considering Chisora's previous antics.

haye is an ass but what was he supposed to do wait for chisora to spit on him or slap him or something? That was clearly what chisora had in mind since he said as much only seconds before ('I'll give him two slaps for that' then he gets up and rolls down to him entourage in tow) For once chisora got nailed BEFORE he pulled his ****. You can't go around spitting and slapping people and then expect to charge up to someone like david haye having just threatened to do the same again and not have him start throwing at you ... if it was a choice between either battering the guy or letting him slap/spit on you most people would start throwing.

What people have an issue with here, I believe, is that both are professional fighters and represent the sport of boxing. Such antics are not a good look for the sport and rightly so. But, you have to look at the situation also.

They are not in the ring, one has the urge to threaten another with violence for many weeks... Walks upto that person (removing jacket) and then expects shiz not to go down?
