Where does a Cotto win over Floyd rank all-time in the upset list???
Yes, Cotto is a very legit fight at 154, but hardly anyone thinks Cotto is going to beat Mayweather. So, where would you rank a Cotto win over Mayweather on the list of biggest upsets of all-time????
In NSB it probably would be in the real world no. The reason I say that is because most posts don't give Cotto a slight chance like Floyd is just going to win 12 rounds or TKO Cotto. In the real world we know Cotto has a chance so no I would not rank in the top 10 biggest upsets in history. It would how ever be one of the most significant wins for any fighter in history.
If Cotto were to even land a stunning punch or knock Floyd down, Miguel might as well be declared the winner because that's exactly how the peasants from this site acted when Mosley landed two great punches in one round out of the entire 12.
This just goes to show the standard that Floyd is held to.
Manny could look like fresh **** in the bowl like he did against JMM and peasants still support the gift decision he was awarded.
Floyd hears criticism about him not standing and trading, so he sits on more of his punches. So peasants come up with Floyd losing his legs.
If somehow Cotto did win, peasants would try to do to Floyd what the world tried to do to Roy Jones: they would say that he was overrated all along.
However, the truth is, even if Cotto managed to knock Floyd out, his record would STILL be better than any active boxer.
It would be better than his nearest P4P competitor, Manny Pacquiao.
It would still be better than any current boxer.
When one spends his career fighting the best for 15 years, he builds a castle on a solid foundation that won't be undone by a loss or even a few losses toward the end of his career.
Conversely, when one spend his career fighting bums for his first 40 fights, and then he targets guys who are coming off losses and uses catchweights, he builds a castle as solid as a house of cards JUST WAITING to be blown over.
There IS NO foundation. Just the big, blown up structure you want people to see.
There's a reason why so many are willing to believe that Pacquiao got his asss taught a boxing lesson than believe that he just had an off night. There's no coincidence. Its not hate for Pacquiao as most believed that he would just run right over JMM at his current age. Its more about Manny having a long history of special conditions that he hoped the world would overlook. People ain't buying it anymore.
One thing a win over Mayweather would do is make Cotto a magnet for money fights. I don't see it doing any more for his legacy than a win over Roy Jones did for Tarver's legacy. However everyone within a division up or down would be looking for a fight with Cotto. And people would actually buy a Cotto PPV after a win like that just to see if it was a fluke or not.
See ... that's the problem with beating someone of Mayweather's class: You've got to continue winning or else everyone will either think Floyd got old or you got lucky. It happened to Tarver. Glenn Johnson beat Jones next and then beat Tarver. Tarver's rising sun pretty much set after that.
Who y'all kidding? Floyd is undefeated and in ur world he's the best ever. If cotto was to pull off the victory that would be one if not the biggest upset of all time!
It would still be a big upset, because of how good Floyd still is. Ali was already pretty much set as an ATG when he fought Foreman in 74' and not many people even thought he was going to win, and people were thinking Ali was risking his health big time in that fight. Not many people and most all fans, didn't give Ali a shot in hell to beat Foreman in 74'. He knocked George out and it's remembered as one of the biggest upsets ever, and rightfully so.
So, even thought Cotto is still a good fighter and one of the elite in his era, it'd still be a huge upset if he were to beat Floyd right now.
That would be like me losing a fist fight against the neighhborhood bum. I'd be a laughing stock. Oh look that's Kev that guy who boxes, he lost a fight to that drunk bum who can't even stand straight.
This would be a huge upset. Not quite Tyson-Douglas, but it'll be up there. And it'll also add more confusion to the May-Pac drama. Cause Floyd beat Marquez easily, Marquez then beats Pac, then Floyd loses to Cotto who Pac already beat easily. So they're beating and losing to eachother's opponents, but never fight eachother. But if Floyd beats Cotto, it'll be good, Floyd continues being P4P King.
