it's funny seeing people take sides over this cuz the reality is both guys have valid points.
Rigondeaux has a point because he's ranked #2 in the division and if Donaire wants to be considered the best he needs to fight the best.
Donaire has a point cuz rigondeaux doesn't really have a fanbase and like it or not boxing is about money, so perhaps rigondeaux needs another fight or two to make his case.
I'm a fan of both guys so I can look at it from both perspectives. People saying donaire is a fraud or rigondeaux sucks are ******, as both are great fighters.
Donaire has done enough where he shouldn't even be discusing Rigo, who's too new and still realitively untested. But after Rigodeaux gets a few more fights this will be a good matchup.
lol, damn, donaire lacks any kinda charisma for a fighter of his caliber. that was a silly response on khan-like levels. altho i dont disagree with him, some things are better left unsaid
(BTW, Walt, I just checked out your video link. Nice. Thanks for posting it. I'm not into tatted chicks, nor did I think those two were particularly hot. But they were sexy, the vid was nicely shot and the music was very cool.)
Yea, its definitely a sexy vid.
Back to topic, i really like donaire but i hate the gamd oc publicly putting down a higher ranked very tough opponent publicly as an obvious attempt to avoid a fight with him.
These cubans like lara and rigo got people running for the hills right now. They're obviously more than credible opponents.

With the exception of Gamboa and Hernandez, the problem most Cuban fighters have is that they've recorded very few professional fights...but they're not exactly green. Rigo is a highly skilled and accomplished boxer; but with his big, fat nine pro fights, he's scary to lose to. It's understandable why a P4P fighter like Donaire would hesitate to take on a guy like that. There's very little to gain and a lot to lose.
The same goes with Lara. Erislandy smacked up a very well-known and respected fighter in Paul Williams with (then) only sixteen pro fights. You better believe that the Williams camp bought into the mistaken notion that these Cuban fighters are "just amateurs". After Lara's performance, everyone backed off. Now, no one wants a part of him. It's a catch-22 for these Cubans. They must, of course, win; but if they do, it's "hands off".
