if years ago someone famous or in the public eye said "the williams sisters are good but they are only getting hype cuz they're black", dont you think they would have been criticized for being racist?

By the uneducated and race baiters yes. But still would not make it racist cause its just not. Just because some want to make things out to be racist doesn't mean that it is. The comment was not racist about the Williams sisters or Lin.
