One correction, the fight was in the city of Mar del Plata, not in the city of Buenos Aires. Mar del Plata belongs to Buenos Aires province but is like 400 km from the city of Buenos Aires.

Argentine fans did this because they dont want someone like Sexy Sergio representing them, because he represents the lowly 10% of beautiful men that exists in Argentina.

Seeing Sexy Sergio might make women want to visit Argentina and see sexy men. Argentine men know that once foreign women discover the truth there will be massive numbers of rejection going on, and it will lead to sexy argentine women discovering that there are way more good looking average men out there and will leave, causing a huge drop in population.
