Will boxing EVER be the same as before?

I am watching a boxing preview of Leonard-Hagler..

Damn, it was sooooooooooo big back in the 80's...

    Will boxing ever be saved?
Will it ever be the same as it used to?

Do you think one day it will be the same as it was before?
    EVER?

    How can it be saved...?

boxing will b saved by a huge name heavyweight. i say heavyweight, because its the most popular division, and i think if a non-boxing fan sees a clip of a great popular heavyweight like that, they get into boxing.

I know what you guys mean...

but even if a BIG GREAT fighter comes...

How will it get people that DONT watch boxing START to...

This is SO important to me.
I always think about this, because I have dreams of being the next "ali type fighter" and hope boxing will be big...

It can be saved if they put a size cap on heavys. Some of these guys are all size and no skill, or endurance, or basicaly anything.

They hug all day and night. Till they finally rest enough to throw the 5th punch of the fight and the other guy gets caught with it.

It can be saved if some of these so called champs/top fighters stop sitting on their belts, or fighting once every year and some skipping a whole year yet still keeping the belt.

All these fighters with very small amounts of fights under their belt ready to go into retirement dont help boxing as that obviously means they were highly inactive and slowed things down. They are a big hinderance to boxing.

People dont wanna hear oh such and such is gonna fight such and such next year, they wanna hear in 3 months at the most.

If all the divisions North of 140 lbs were as active, explosive, and skilled as the lower ones Boxing would still be regarded higher than most sports all over the world.

I don't think boxing will ever be big or popular again and the main reason is pay-per-view. Every time there's a big fighter, it costs a fortune to watch them fight once or twice a year. There are plenty of free sports that people would rather watch - sports they can watch almost every day, or at least once a week. I think pay-per-view has a lot to do with the unpopularity of boxing.

                  Great post.

The problem with today's heavyweights are they are slow, lazy, and inactive. Just look at all the top heavyweights, none of them have a high output of punches during a fight like Louis, Marciano, Ali did.

The fights themselves aren't ruining boxing but PPV's are. No one wants to pay 50.00 of there hard earned money for 5 fights, 2 of which are usually good and the rest are guys who aren't fighting for a title, or nothing like that. I truly believe if boxing was shown on pay TV like football, it wouldn't be in this mess.
