Comments Thread For: Denis Lebedev Could Be Facing Steve Cunningham Next

According to WBA interim-cruiserweight king Denis Lebedev (23-1, 17KOs), if he doesn't secure a fight with full WBA champion Guillermo Jones (38-3-2, 30KOs), then he plans to target a fight with former two-time IBF champion Steve Cunningham (24-4, 12KOs), who recently lost a twelve round decision in a gutsy performance against Yoan Pablo Hernandez.

They are trying to cherry pick and it might hurt them if Cunningham pull off the win.

It's about time Lebedev got off the senior citizen's tour. This would be a good fight. Don't really know who I'd pick to be honest, but if it's held in Russia.....

They've been trying to make the fight with Guillermo Jones for six weeks, but it looks like he really doesn't want it. Jones rarely fights.

Cunningham is okay as a back-up plan.

Cunningham's one of the best. Doesn't change the fact that Lebedev's a huge cherry picker... Steve's coming off a loss and Leb's two previous bouts were against a pair of OAPs.

Steve could win a decision here but he has such a dodgey chin even though he has never been ko'd because of his ability to recover and survive but he is always hitting the canvas in fights.

Lebedev hits a good deal harder than Pablo.

Not nearly as fast or explosive though.

Fairly even fight. But I hate Leb pouncing on a guy with two straight losses.
