Just last week or the week before, I read on this website that a heavyweight tourney was in the works. Plus, the NSB forum was flooded with threads and posts about the "tourney." Has everyone forgotten so soon?

And so what if Rahman and Byrd are free agents? They're not going to participate in a tournament, which if planned right, could have the potential to earn the winner alot of $$$ ?

I think If somehow you were to put all the beltholders on one card, the ppv and box office sales would be pretty high.

but it would still suck. its clear that the division sux man. i mean honestly, DKP will only allow his fighters or other **** guys to fight for the titles. lets say wlad was the #1, u know he would avoid it as much as possible

Riz, you mean that you wouldn't want to watch a ppv card with the IBF,WBC,WBO,WBA,(and mickey mouse title ) all on the same card on one night? Also, maybe the promoter could throw in a couple of eliminator bouts too. I don't know...wishful thinking maybe.

Ruiz is fighting Valuev, Rahman is fighting Toney, the only one left is Byrd who is his cousin and I dont think they wana fight, I hope these guy get it straight and fight cause this is prolly the best fight or one of the best fights in the division....
How could Brewster back out it's his mandatory? So you're saying Brewster would vacate his belt? It ain't happenin'

nobody wants to see a heavyweight tournament without wlad klitschko, considering he is clearly better than every champion besides brewster i dont see the point of a tournament without the 1st or 2nd best fighter in the division, pure horse**** as far as im concerned

he wont back out but he wont fight until he absolutely has to do it. wlad has said numerous times he prefers to fight brewster but brewster doesent say the same thing, hes always saying how wlad has to "earn it" well now he has earned the mandatory and i dont hear brewster talking..... probably busy thinking of ways to avoid the fight.

I think alot of boxing fans would like to see a heavyweight tournament regardless if Wlad is invited or not. I would much rather see a unified or partly unified champion more than I would like to see a rematch between Brewster and Wlad just yet. The more the fighters and promoters procrastinate about unifying the belts, the less likely it is to happen.

It's not all done on one night, they have the regular 3-4 months between the fights. And no, I wouldn't want to pay $50 to see Ruiz or Byrd. I would probably watch the final fight but no more than that. Byrd will most likely fight Wlad in Germany, he would get paid 5 times as much as he would get paid in the tournament. Ruiz is fighting Valuev and most likely will loose. Rahman is fighting Toney, he is out. Even if tournament will happen, we won't see it for another year or so. Not that I am looking forward to it.

Why can't they do it all in one night? What I mean is ; after the fights are all done with for the night, we would have a IBF-WBO champ and a WBC-WBA champ or vice-versa. I guess I don't understand why these tournaments are so hard to put together.

nope. remember the don king heavyweight card did that sell a lot? Wladimir Klitschko vs Lamon Brewster would sell more then anyother tournament ****....
