Doctor on Andrade's opponent: "Hernandez should not be fighting at all."

We might be witnessing a tragedy on national televisin tonight.
“First of all Boxing 360 is the contracted promoter of Angel Hernandez,” Dr. Yagobi told *********.com. “I want it to be clear that the only reason that I am bringing this up at all is because safety of all fighters is our primary concern. Angel Hernandez is not physically fit to fight anyone at all let a former world amateur champion, WBO #9, WBC & IBF #13 and WBA #15 like Andrade. Hernandez is only 36 years old and physically he is already showing serious effects from major ring wars. Once such effect that is obvious to anyone is that his speech is very badly impaired. I wouldn’t care if this was a million dollar fight purse or more I would still do everything in my power to stop this fight from happening. I repeat, Hernandez should not be fighting at all. This is an absolute recipe for disaster possibly happening on national television. If this fight was to happen without our authorization I would not ask or accept any money from Hernandez’ purse. As president of the boxing association and an attorney of law, I would think Andrade’s promoter Joe DeGuardia would not want to put Hernandez or any fighter in that situation. If he didn’t know the current physical status of Hernandez he does now.”

damn are we gonna witness an Oscar Diaz type finish tonight?? That's the only time I recall a fighter being carried out on a stretcher was horrible.

I wish Hernandez the best of luck tonight hopefully nobody gets seriously hurt.

Very interesting article. The comments on Shane Mosely standout to me, especially how they mention that review of fight tapes should factor into forming an opinion on a fighter's suitability. A lot of grey area in determining that though.

That last paragraph was frightening, concerning tonight's fight.

If I ever saw a death in the ring live on TV, I'd give up watching boxing. I thought it happened when I was watching Martinez Williams 2. Makes you question if it's worth it. Getting KOed/Concussed is NO JOKE.

        good post Doc, as always.

Andrade is boring as ****..he won't do anymore damage if Hernandez is this damaged already...

On a side note..Hernandez' people should really reconsider this guy continuing to fight..if he takes a beating tonight he needs to hang them up if Dr's sound this concerned

The man who said this is the owner of Boxing360 !!!! Yagobi is a restaurateur who is the President and CEO of Boxing 360, a boxing promotional group located in New York City founded in 2009.

I was informed Angel spent eight hours in the hospital last night and passed with flying colors.

Below is an excerpt from Maxboxing

“Mr. Hernandez passed all the minimum tests required,” Mike Mazulli told me on a voice message left Thursday evening while I was on the radio. “In fact, he passed a couple that were above and beyond our minimum medicals which are a physical within the last year, blood testing for HIV and Hep B and C. EKG, CT scan and a neural exam. Mr. Hernandez passed all minimum medicals that are required plus some that I required to make sure he is ok to fight.”
