I still got Nonito in that fight, because Abner doesn't have the style to trouble Donaire to me. I'd be pulling for Abner because I am a fan of his, but I'd pick Donaire. With that said, it would be a huge fight, and Abner would still have a solid chance, given that some tend to overrate Nonito in my eyes. That's just me though.

Mares doesn't match up to well stylistically with Donaire. Donaire by decision imo. But Mares would give him a good fight. Make it happen.

Would be tight to see this fight happen, I think Donaire would ultimately prevail but by no means would this be an easy fight.

Regardless, my boy Mares needs a stay-busy type of opponent next. He needs a bit of a (well deserved) mental break from the consecutive, top-competition, 12 round fights he's been having

Abner needs to fight Moreno first and finish off his 118 career. Wins over Moreno and Agbeko would be as good as Donaire just beating Montiel and jumping to 122 if you ask me. But, I'd favor Moreno, as well as Donaire, over Mares. I like Mares, am a fan, but he doesn't have the style to beat Donaire, Rigondeaux does. Mares wouldn't be easy for Donaire, and I could still see Abner getting his at times, but not enough of a defense to beat Donaire. With that said, I still see Donaire fighting Arce and Nishioka, than jumping to 126 anyway. And you can bet that Bob won't let Rigo fight Nishioka before Nonito does, not in amillion years.

The only guy I'd think could get over Donaire below 126 right now is Moreno. That said, this is an excellent match...BUT...

...how to get there? Donaire = Top Rank. Mares = GBP. What's the path to a fight right now? I don't know there is one. The only belt Mares can really get to is Ndlovu's (IBF) as the rest are either Top Rank or Nishioka waiting for Donaire (maybe).

Methinks the real road is Mares-Moreno at 22, somewhere Moreno is likely to rise to sooner than later.

you can spin it all you want but ko wins over darchinyan, montiel and sydorenko>>>>>>>>>>>>>>draw with perez and close wins over darch and agbeko.
mares clearly won that fight. That is a solid resume for such a young prospect

I like the idea of Mares moving up in weight that would be a sick fight. I think the flash would beat Mares if they fought right now. I would like Abner to fight like three fights at that weight and then fight Nonito.
