Unfortunately for Williams.. he was blessed with physical stats that could make him great... but with no fan base it's almost a plague.. like him targeting Chavez and Alvarez.. forget it.. what's there to gain by fighting Williams?
If Williams wants big fights he needs to get a belt and keep it and defend it, and eventually they will have to come to him.
Otherwise forget it.. all he is, is a risk.
For the record, Williams struggles with slick southpaws that counter punch well... Martinez, Quintana, Lara etc, Not orthodox, short boxers with mediocre defense.Comment

basically. I think williams beats jcc jr, cotto and would give ortiz a war out of hell!

Very interesting fight. Williams size and pressure would cause Cotto many problems but his lack of defense and imo lack of overall skill would make him an easy target for Cotto. Close fight that Cotto wins by decision. I think there would be a split on who the fans think won because Williams would be the aggressor.Comment

The problem is this.
a 6'2" southpaw, throwing 100+ punches a round from every imaginable angle directly at/through Cottos defense.
Cotto doesnt have KO power like Martinez. If Cotto can't knock Williams out... Damage will start accruing heavily on Cottos face.
He breaks up EXTREMELY easily.
Arm punches or not... enough of them land, and Cottos face will be ruined.Comment

Yeah I keep hearing this myth that Cotto is some amazing slick boxer which he isn't at all. Williams has struggled with 3 fighters, all of whom are slick counter-punching southpaws. Cotto is not going to magically start fighting like Lara when they get in the ring.Unfortunately for Williams.. he was blessed with physical stats that could make him great... but with no fan base it's almost a plague.. like him targeting Chavez and Alvarez.. forget it.. what's there to gain by fighting Williams?

I don't know man, I still favor Williams slightly based on styles but if Cotto can move like he did against Margarito the second time, Williams could have some trouble finding him. Though Williams is a little more fluid than Margarito. The problem is this.

Tough fight. Think Williams would probably outwork Miguel but it's closer now than it was a few years ago.Comment

Ill give you that it's a bit closer... but really the style matchups that Williams has gone up against has made him look worse than he really is IMO.I don't know man, I still favor Williams slightly based on styles but if Cotto can move like he did against Margarito the second time, Williams could have some trouble finding him. Williams is MUCH more fluid than Margarito... hes quicker on his feet, much quicker.. faster hand speed, and his reach is equal to Wlads.Comment

What has Cotto done to prove he can beat a pressure fighter? Cotto dont fight like Quintana at all and he aint a southpaw so that theory goes out of the window. Cotto stamina aint that good. And the size difference is huge. I love Cotto but you have to be blind to believe that Cotto can keep PWill off him.Comment
