Ive only seen Benn against the G-man. so based on what i saw from benn in that fight i would pick Byrd to outbox Benn over 12, stunning him a few times. Byrds power at a lower weight would be more formidable.
Nigel Benn vs Chris Byrd

Benn joined his regiments boxing team when he was 18 and within days was the best on his team so he had loads of natural talent,he travelled all over Europe in the army and won every tournament he entered. Benn was the number one in Europe out of armed forces. He only lost one amateur fight,to Rod Douglas in 85(Douglas was robbed at the 84 Olympics),but reversed the loss the following year. Benn also has a win over Henry Maske in 84,Maske was much better than Byrd.
If you watch Benns amateur fights,he has alot of tools that he didnt carry through with him into the pro ranks. He threw a triple left jab at an angle, very effective,he also would get in close sometimes and back off towards the ropes then he had this sudden spin off the ropes where he got you with a right hand. I remember Byrd in Barcelona,he was good and slick but I wouldnt put him in Benns class,Benn of 82-86 beats Byrd of 92. If Byrd fought Benn on Byrds pro debut,Byrd would of been way out of his depth obviously.Comment

I don't think Byrd could cope with Benn's speed, Benn had lightning fast combinations in the amateurs.
He was faster than this: http://www.transferbigfiles.com/Down...9-f6c32ceba850Comment

Not that I know of, although I haven't followed his career as well as I should.
I know enough that He would clearly beat Byrd.Comment
