It was after Judah. His first fight outside of Top Rank was against Baldomir. That was the first time I saw the HBO crew heavily criticised Mayweather, especially Merchant - they even had a massive row during the post fight interview. Anyone find this simply coincidental? Hmmm. I personally think not.
when did mayweather ditch bob arum

I think it had more to do with the boos from the crowd and people leaving the arena around the 9th round. He was criticizing him more on the overall lack of excitement in the fight. I remember watching it at a bar and they turned the music back on during the 8th round because people were complaining it was boring. True story lol.It was after Judah. At the time it was the Margarito fight that Arum was pushing and I think he offered Floyd his biggest purse at the time of 8 million dollars to do the fight. Floyd saw a vision with Oscar at the end of the tunnel and becoming a PPV attraction and headed down the road of Judah, Baldomir and then yall know the rest. I think Margarito was a high-risk low-reward fight and personally from a style perception the wrong fight for Floyd. One thing for sure is Magarito would have tested his stamina and Floyd would have to use his feet alot. I see Margarito as a bigger Castillio but with a lot less head movement and less skills. His wide looping shots give Floyd to mant escape routes and the pressure is only effective if you land alot of body punches because his head shot would be pretty much ineffective. So in a business sense Floyd made the right choice.Comment

This is true right here.I think it had more to do with the boos from the crowd and people leaving the arena around the 9th round. The complaints or criticism of Floyd in that fight was due to his extreme lack of action in that fight. You can say it was a good plan for him, he was able to outclass Baldomir and get a clear win and keep on his track/goal of getting De La Hoya next, but it was not a fan friendly fight.Comment

Probably had NOTHING to do with it being one of the most boring PPV fights in history. It was after Judah. His first fight outside of Top Rank was against Baldomir. Natas: it was Judah not Baldomir.
Umm, Dirk: Arum presented these "challenging" fights to Floyd AFTER he left Top Rank. To be more accurate, DURING the May-Arum buyout ordeal. If you were not around to know about that, you shouldn't discuss it IMHO.Comment
