Hes already just got a DUI, been busted for needing to use diuretics to make weight and losing 20 pounds before every fight and having it IV'ed back in is going to take its toll. If he steps up to 168 there would be a ton of guys who could whoop him badly. He has all of the sighs of a fighter who has a shorter career.
Will Chavez Jr be shot by the time he is 30?

I don't know, but he's doing what he has to do to become "relevant". Let's analyze Chavez Jr, he has decent skills, a bad defense since he receives too much punches, and he has regular power for the division. The kid is nothing out of this world.
Now about his advantages, he's a very large MW, he jumps at the ring at 180+. I've seen a lot of guys saying that he has a "good chin" ... well yeah he does, but his 10+ weight advantage on fight night is a big factor to be able to sustain punishment. He showed good stamina and is able to mangle his opponents around the ring.
If it wasn't for his size at MW, he would be a regular boxer and most likely would lose against top 20 fighters, however even though he's killing himself to do the weight and won't be able to do that for much longer he's right now a top 10 MW and would be able to compete against most in the division.
Once the kid moves to 168 he loses all the advantages he has, since guys at SMW are going to be as big as him, most of them are actually harder punchers and are technically better.Comment

From the title I understood if he was literally going to get shot. lolHes already just got a DUI, been busted for needing to use diuretics to make weight and losing 20 pounds before every fight and having it IV'ed back in is going to take its toll. JCC JR could go up to 168 and take all of Bute's fake belts without breaking a sweat. On the way down he could beat the hell out of Arthur Abraham just for laughs.Comment
