Freddie Roach, the trainer of Manny Pacquiao, gave his take on the scheduled junior middleweight fight between WBA champion Miguel Cotto and undefeated five-division beltholder Floyd Mayweather Jr. The battle between Cotto and Mayweather takes place on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Pacquiao had previously stopped Cotto in 2009, when they fought at a catch-weight of 145-pounds.

Tim Bradley has a better chance of beating Pacquiao.

It will be an interesting fight but Cotto will need to try and stay more active than Mayweather to try and win rounds. I can't wait. Go Cotto!!

I hope Roach remembers this interview he gave. I'm sure the story will change on May 6th. This is the same logic he uses to explain why he thinks Pacquiao will beat Mayweather.

The Thing is Mayweather doesn't box, He stands his ground and will try and Counter Cotto. Yea He will give ground to Cotto but not like Yuri, and even when mayweathers against the rope I don't see Cotto doing much, when he had Margarito and Pacquiao on the ropes there were times that he could of dealt damage but he didn't do much. But I see what you saying either way its going to be a good fight, I do believe Cotto is going to do a lot better than what people think.

If Cotto keeps getting countered, then his punch output will drop. I should think Roach knows this right? 15 punches that land is better than 5 punches that Cotto lands out of 60 punches he throws.
