Why are you getting desperate and going round in circles.

Mayweather said "If Sergio Martinez makes 150lbs...".
I'll believe it when the fight gets signed at 150 and Martinez doesn't try to negotiate a higher weight. I'm sure Floyd wouldn't mind 154.

LOL....but what you're saying is just conjecture. You're not using actual facts. You're just saying what you WANT to believe.

Pacquiao said the same thing "If Sergio can make 150lbs" but I didnt see you or any of the other tards on this thread trying to suggest that he would actually be ok with 154. It was all "Pacquaio is trying to drain him" etc etc.

Same thing with Cotto. Now Cotto is a great opponent but when he was being touted for Pacquaio rematch, it was a joke.

Double standards are hilarious from Floyd fanatics.

I have no problem with Floyd or Pac fighting Cotto at 150. Pacquiao was trying to drain him back down though to fight at welterweight, that can't be denied. Cotto stated that much himself.

          Whats this bitch fest about?

Sergio stated he would fight either guy at 150lbs. Each fighter was then asked if they would fight Sergio at 150lbs. One is blatantly ducking Sergio after stating he would fight him at 150lbs, the other is willing and open to fighting him at 150lbs.

That's what I said. Floyd was answering a question.

your absolutely correct. since its floyd though hes held to a higher standard than manny. a standard that even if reached, the haters will still tear apart. if floyd beats manny at 147 and sergio at 155-160 then he'll all of a sudden be ducking ward or bute and he will always been scared to go beyond middle weight.

At the end of the day, those are the things he said he'd be willing to do. But that's besides the point as that is not the thread's main point. It's simply about the reality that CW's have existed for a long time and have a place in boxing.

Note: This thread was inspired by a fan in Fat Dan's Chat. Also, all Pacquiao and Mayweather huggers please exit this thread now. I know you won't listen, but it was worth a shot. Here we go:

The fact that Mayweather is willing to fight Cotto at 154 but would make Martinez drop to 150 speaks volumes.

Obviously the issue of weight has nothing to do with caring whether or not his opponent is comfortable, but more about he doesn't feel he needs to adjust his weight to win. And if he can overcome a small sticking point and insult Pac at the same time? All the better. If Mayweather/JMM didn't tell you that Mayweather doesn't care about CW's, then I guess you aren't going to get it.

With that said though, it's not just Mayweather. Pac has used catchweights. Cotto attempted to make Margario fight below 154 for their rematch(so for everyone, Cotto included, b*tching about CWs? What a joke.) And throughout boxing history, many, many fighters have used catchweights.

It's all a matter of one fighter having more clout than his opponent, a genuine need for a catchweight between two fighters from different weight classes, or a CW being treated as a bargaining chip in a negotiation. At the end of the day, they exist, they aren't great. BUT they are a part of boxing and there are many guilty parties.
Everything you mention rings true, but in reality it all comes down to one true motive, to have a distinct advantage over an opponent. In that sense, regardless of who's fan you are, catchweights are in essense, bull****.

Wether it's used as a negotiation tactic, clout or need, someone gets to take advantage of it.

He isn't making Martinez do anything. He is the one who offered.

The thread isn't about Pacquiao though. We all know Pacquiao aint fighting Sergio.

The point is that Floyd and his idiotic fans have contradicted themselves and made themselves look ****** yet again
