  • My one and only take on the whole Pac vs Floyd BS

I know they won't stop but I'm so tired of the Pac vs Floyd back and forth that dominates this forum. So I'm going to give my non biased take on the whole ***in thing. I'm a fan of both and a fan of neither, meaning I don't have a dog in this fight but respect each one as great fighters.

    Where Floyd went wrong:

First off, I can't say Floyd has ever "ducked" anyone but he and his team have definitely cherry picked their opponents throughout the years. I know hindsight is 20/20 but at the time Mosley, Margarito and Cotto were still prime and much more dangerous, Floyd could and should have fought them.

I think he beats all those guys but a prime Cotto at 140 was a monster. A prime Margarito at 147 was a beast and Mosley in his mid 30's still was an incredibly dangerous boxer/puncher. Floyd chose NOT to fight any of them and that will without a doubt hurt his legacy.

I understand the business aspect of boxing, I'm around it every day but I just think for the sake of legacy and the way we will see Floyd 20-30 years from now, he will be remembered as someone who very carefully chose his opponents. I believe after the first Castillo fight, he sort of learned his lesson and even though he came back and beat Castillo the second time around, he was beaten in the first, let's not make a mistake about that one.

Floyd says he doesn't care about what the fans think and that he's only fighting for a paycheck, that's BS. Floyd cares very much and is a sensitive guy. He wants to be loved the way Pac is and I think that hurt him inside, especially when Pac, a foreigner is more popular in the U.S than he is.

    Where Pac went wrong:

Pac is the darling of boxing, you can't help but love the guy because of what he has done for his country and the type of man he is. The problem is, when Floyd asked him for the blood tests, even though they were unprecedented, he should have manned up and taken them. Instead he created a controversy by not taking the test and rumors swirled around that he as on the juice.

Pac has gone from 106lbs to now literally fighting guys that weigh 170lbs on fight night. He has nothing left to prove, he is the ultimate over achiever in the sport and one of the main reasons he's gotten the attention he has.

At the same time though, he has not done well vs JMM. I had JMM winning 2 of 3 fights and was satisfied with the draw on the first one. That is a stain on Pac's career because JMM is the thorn in his side. We now see a ***** in Pac's armor and Pac's fans don't want to admit it. I think the tables have turned on Pac and now Floyd has gained the upper hand in the media war. It would help Pac to make this fight to settle everything once and for all, the steroid rumors and the fact he is now seen as the one who is scared to fight.

    Conclusion:

In the end BOTH are great fighters and the two best fighters easily of the past decade. I think Mayweather beats Pac but it's still the fight everyone wants to see. I do think Mayweather came off looking bad when all of a sudden after Pac struggled to fight JMM, he was so eager to fight Pac. He should have been that way from day one.

Pac should have taken the tests, even though I understand his and Freddie Roache's view of not being bullied. It's all nothing but a d.ick swinging contest and it's sad because ego has gotten in the way of a great, great fight for the fans and the sport of boxing.

Let's not forget the real villain in all of this, Bob Arum. He's the biggest hurdle in making this fight and consistently lies to everyone, the fans, Pacquaio, Roach, the Mayweathers....

I have a strong feeling we will never see this fight, UNLESS the fighters step in and demand it get done.

I think 50/50 is a fair split because BOTH are great champs and will generate big money. They could do this fight anywhere in the world and it would sell.

    Just my two cents....
