Ok, I'm basing this on Manny since that's the only boxer I know most about though I hope some of you can mention others that maybe went in this similiar direction.
Ok, so Manny fights with hunger and as the usual Manny until he takes on Barrera. He trains so hard for months, and puts on a masterful performance that was flawless regardless if it was Barrera's night or not. Barrera simply had no answers and was served a full course of leather for 11 rounds straight. So now Manny win's what most people recongnized as the Featherweight Champion. Now where's the hunger? It's as if, Manny's sole purpose in life was to get to Barrera, put on the performance of his career, and that's it.
That's where I'm getting to. Do you think once a boxer puts on a performance of his career, it could be almost equivalent to an actor winning an oscar? Once they reach that high platue, it's as if, there is nothing else to reach to, and now they can put on lackluster performances with little care involved. I'm getting at Halle Berry getting an Oscar for Monster, then goes and does Catwoman movie
I'm getting at, Manny doing a flawless performance vs Barrera to a , don't give a sheet performance vs Marquez, and not giving 2 ****s about the rematch. Marquez is training in high alttitudes, while Manny is watching his ****fights and doing talk shows and tvs hows. He's suppose to go like the first week of January to train. That's the samea mount of time he will have had for their first fight to train. He's the one that needs the plan to win, not Marquez. I think all hope is lost for Manny at this point. This isn't a guy who knows what his people expect from him and what's at stake, it's a immature kid who doesn't seem to care much about his fans or how it will hurt them if he doesn't do well. He's definitely a Mike Tyson 2
