    Cotto's Prime is not LOST

You guys act like anybody that gets a beatdown is a shot fighter. Not everybody is Jeff Lacy.

I remember Ricardo Torres pouring some crazy punches on Miguel for 2 rounds non-stop. Miguel knocked him out but he was beat up too.

Then he gets beat by Margarito especially in the last two rounds.

Clottey beat him up pretty bad too, I don't think Miguel should've won that. I thought it was a draw.

He got beat up in the Pacman fight but I don't even think it was about prime. I think he would've lost to Pacman either way but he was fighting at the wrong weight 145 and he had a joker for a corner-man. No strategy whatsoever just thinking that you can steamroll Pacman cause you're bigger.
And for people who say oh 145 is no big deal just remember when he was struggling to make 140 and what a feather-fisted Paulie did to him. Had him stumbling a few times from feather shots.

So no I don't think Cotto's prime is gone.

But, calling a spade a spade Cotto has been in wars and that is very telling when competing at this elite level...

Cotto's not in his absolute prime anymore, but he's certainly not shot like some people think he is. No where near it actually.

he's not shot. He's past his prime or at the tail end of his career, or whatever you want to call it. That doesn't mean he's not still a very good fighter.

Doesn't matter though floyd will whoop him. But I'm happy for Cotto he was in the perfect position at the perfect time I'm sure he's going to make some serious cash. I wonder if he'll retired after the fight.

Cotto's not shot. For shame comparing him to Jeff Lacy.

He's not shot, but he is past his best. You could debate what I just said, but something you can't refute is that his face swells up more easily than before.

It's not like we're saying that Cotto is going to get steamrolled by Mayweather, it's just that when you take into account his defensive flaws, they become MUCH more magnified when you put him in there with someone who is reknown for his defense and accuracy. Cotto is going to eat A LOT of right hands.

I'd be very surprised if he beats Mayweather because:

a-) the MGM grand plays a psychological factor (two losses in big fights)
b-) Boxing politics favor Mayweather and his hopeful superfight with Manny
c-) Cotto has much more miles on his odometer because of the punishment he's taken in his career

Cotto is going to have to knock Mayweather out or stop him if he wants to win. He IS NOT getting a decision because of who he's facing. It SHOULDN'T be like that, but boxing unfortunately is.

            Mayweather UD 117-113.

Agredd^^...I'm even betting on Floyd to win by ud. I just hate to see Cotto lose again, especially after his nice comback. Another part of me is happy he finally gets the fight with Floyd.

To be honest, and I know I am in the minority in stating this ( I mentioned this in another thread) we all have seen Cotto against volume punching pressure fighters in some of his wars but to see him against a pure boxer should be an interesting chess match while it last.

Cotto is just not that great of a fighter really. But people are saying oh he gets cut now, bruised more so he's past his prime. He's fighting better fighters too.
I mean the 3 best fighters that he fought in his career are Pacman, Margarito and Clottey and they all beat him up. Ok , to be fair to Cotto he did beat Mosley but there was something weird about this fight by the latter rounds. Cotto's always been kind of soft when punched , just think of the Torres fight or you can look at the N'dou fight where Ndou hurt him somewhere even though Cotto had broken his rib. Cotto was just retrieving. Same thing with Mosley.

Cotto is not absolute prime anymore, not since 2008, but neither are Floyd and Manny.

Cotto is past his prime-still good. He's basically the same guy he was in 09' when he fought Manny, only at 154 lbs. Floyd fighting Cotto right now at 154 lbs s**ts all over Manny fighting Margarito at 150 lb CW, and EVERYONE knows that.

Cotto is still good, said it from day 1, and also said that if Manny or Floyd fought him at 154 right now, it's a very legit/B+ fight.

Manny will get more props for beating Cotto, because he did it first, but Floyd will get his due as well for beating a still good Cotto at 154 lbs. Same with Hatton, only vice-versa. Floyd got more credit for beating Hatton because he beat the prime version and did it first. But, Manny still got his due for beating Ricky, because he was still good and it was at 140 lbs.

Mayweather-Cotto at 154 and Pac-Bradley are very good fights.
