Responding to James DeGale's claim on Friday that he is severing ties with his manager, Frank Warren stated unequivocally that the 2008 Olympic gold medallist has a manager's contract with him that runs until April 14 2013. DeGale issued a brief statement via his solicitors, Blick & Co., on Friday evening apparently signalling the end of the relationship on his side, but Warren's insistence that 'Chunky' remains under contract has since muddied the waters. What, then, are the repercussions and what do they mean for the future of both DeGale and Warren?

Degale leaving? Cue Warren taking back every plaudit he gave him & begin talking him down & brushing aside his world title aspirations. Dont like Degale's attitude but he is a talent with potential. Warren is just a typical prick of a promoter who has made tons of money off his fighters but will soon turn against them if they want to leave him eg Hatton, Calzaghe (neither of whom had a world title fight on American soil under Warren)

The Benn-Warren battle was early 1988, not 1989. Benn pulled out of the Luton Town FC show (that he was advertised to headline with Barry McGuigan) in May '88 and Warren's legalities kept him out of the ring for five months and off TV for seven months.

I got the 1989 date from the court proceedings as I was referring to the court case. As for 1988. Benn fought 8 times in 1988. There was a five month gap between the Tim Williams fight on May 28 and his fight with Logan on October 26. Well done, you can use Boxrec.

As for Benn Vs Warren. It was actually Mendy Vs Warren, the case was settled in 1989 and my information comes from a top level QC and law databases, laddie.
