Comments Thread For: The Forgotten Lightweight: Review and Ratings Update

By Cliff Rold - To paraphrase “The Incredibles,” which was riffing on Rand, when everyone has a belt, no one’s belt is special.

While the plethora of titles in the sport has created some income opportunities for fighters who otherwise might not have it in this era, their volume (with interim, diamond, and other such wouldn’t-wipe-an-ass with designations) has become harder to sort out. Fighters, even with belts, can be completely lost in the shuffle of their own divisions.

Case in point: Miguel Vazquez. How many readers didn’t realize he was even active over the weekend?

He needs a big fight that makes him look good. He will be tough to beat at 135. He's a big framed lightweight that boxes very well. I would have liked to see him and Rios.

I think he's the best lightweight especially since Rios is moving up. He only lost to Bradley and Canelo, two bigger fighters.

I agree and his losses against Canelo don't count for much. the 1st fight was Vazquez' 1st fight and his second fight against Canelo was technically at junior middleweight because they both weighed in at 148.
