But JR doesn't even know who Sergio Martinez is. 99% of planet earth doesn't know Sergio Martinez even exists. Like people in REAL LIFE have literally never heard his name or seen his picture.

I don't think Martinez is obsessed with JCC Jr at all. I think the obsession with avoiding goes the other way around and as a grown man in a combat sport, it's shameful. You'd be a little bitter if your opponent who was supposed to fight you kept avoiding you at all costs. It doesn't help that he was the person who they gave Sergio's title to, yet JCC Jr walks around and talks like he earned it. Hell, you'd think JCC Jr beat Sergio by how he sometimes talks. You have to also realize how much Martinez is always asked about JCC Jr, so of course he's bound to answer bluntly like he always does. I doubt JCC Jr would have been mentioned had it not been brought up in the interview. The only guy Martinez wastes his actual time challenging (and not answering a question of) is Floyd and Pac. He also challenged winner of cotto-marg..

Why is the "great" Martinez trying so hard to get a fight with a paper champ??

Who else is he supposed to fight? The other paper champ in Pirog? In Russia? There'd be about 10 people in the world who would care..JCC Jr at least has something of a name, even if he lacks credibility. Martinez has already said he's open to a catch weight fight with Ward, Pac, Floyd..junior middle with Cotto, etc. The only fight he has openly campaigned for and really asked for was Floyd. JCC Jr was more of a "Uh...wasn't he supposed to fight me next?" kind of thing

There's also the little drama regarding Martinez's having his belt stripped and it given to JCC Jr. Out of principle, it's a fight *I* would be going for if I was him, so I kind of feel for him. I'm sure he'd eagerly fight Rubio if Rubio wins. Then there's just the whole "wtf, why wont he fight me?" argument. Martinez is what JCC Jr is supposedly aspiring to be, since when does a challenger duck the recognized champ in the division? It's just ridiculous and obviously he's always going to state his opinion on it when asked.

martinez is in his 30's he's really not a middle weight. he should drop down to 154 an fight guys like cotto, lara, kirkland even ortiz. this weight class is crowded. make some money and retire. stop chasing chaves jr. its not going to happen the kid is scared.
