He simply couldn't take-out chinless Lewis, despite landing flush more than once.
lewis was only stopped twice and he walked straight into shots against those guys and was gassed in the rahman fight. vitali never caught lewis walking in and as flush. and as far as rahman goes he went the distance with obed sullivan and couldnt even hurt him while sullivan was stopped by vitali. this isnt rocket science here. vitali's knockout record speaks for itself and thats against some of the most durable guys in the division

As I remember it, Lewis was going back when he got caught by Rahman. Vitali caught Lewis flush.

What he's saying is that Vitali didn't catch them with the same type of shot. He never had Lennox with his chin up and in the air against the ropes and just teed off on his chin, like Rahman. And he never caught him with a flush shot that Lennox fell into from throwing a punch and didn't see, like McCall.

Vitali was not the biggest 1 punch guy in the division, but he had excellent power. Only took a few shots to end Johnson, and he had Williams dancing and flopping all over the ring. If you look at his career, he has very good percentage of fights where he seriously hurts his opponent, even with just one shot sometimes. The problem with overly tall fighters having that devastating one-punch power is that they have to come DOWN at their opponent instead of UP, and can't use their legs in the punch as much.

uhm,,,your saying rahman didnt land flush? lol,,lewis's hands were by his side and he was gasping for air and rahman landed while lewis was against the ropes with his chin in the air. that was as flush as it gets

Vitali had Foreman type punching power (though not to the same degree as Foreman). He was not especially quick, and a lot of what he threw were arm punches, but he was so strong and heavy handed that he frequently hurt his opponents.

He was a very good puncher, but not the hardest. That honor goes to either Corrie Sanders or Wladimir Klitschko.

not even close, has every one forgotten Shavers,Morrison,Cooney,Foreman
No way in hell was Sanders the hardest puncher, He was 40-3 with 30 ko's and he did not fight the greatest competition.

not sure why your bringing those guys up when the poster was talking about the recent past. but for the record I think lewis and wlad both hit harder than morrison and cooney

I think I remember Williams saying Tyson hit harder than Vitali (and by that of course he meant Tyson of 2004 not 1988).
