Well Martinez is appearently too much of a threat for many fighters............Cotto included.

Canelo shook
Floyd shook
Pacman shook

And 2 of those are bonified atg's & far greater than simple little Miguel. While two are overhyped Mexicans,(no pun intended).

With that Martinez seems hesitant to face any othe middleweight & I've grown tired of his **** too.

You aim to fight people who gets you further in your career, be it money, fame or whatever.

Cotto is in a position where he can make real good money fighting Mayweather/Pac and slightly less fighting Canelo/JCC jr.

Martinez would pose the most risk out of these 4 and probably earn him the least money.
I don't like that fighters are driven by money, but it is what it is. If Martinez was the only option out there for Cotto he would fight him. Now hes the most dangerous combined with the least profitable option so it just makes sense to avoid him.

Besides, Cotto is not a guy to challenge for any middleweight crown. Hes just too small and not good enough to overcome that.

Cotto wants Mayweather and Pacquiao just like Martinez wants these 3, the name, recognition, and MONEY.

Cotto-Mayweather and Cotto-Ortiz would do better numbers for Cotto than Martinez at this point.

it's the same thing really. Pirog is not Martinez first choice because of Pirog bringing less money and "fame" to the event.

Same thing for Cotto. He prefers other routes.

It's like when Mayweather used to call out everyone. Mosley, Oscar etc. Because he was "below" them and needed them to make money and get further in his career. Now theres people calling him out and he gets to pick and choose.

There are easily 4 or 5 other guys who would make Cotto more money than Martinez could. Its that simple and the idea that he is shook when he is and has been open to fighting guys who already beat him badly(Pac,Margs) or who would be huge favorites(Mayweather) is just ridiculous.
