Interesting career move, I can't fault him from getting away from Shaw although Shaw has done pretty good for him before his layoff anyways.

Seems a little premature to be striking out on his own especially considering his circumstances but hey I guess it is a good time to really start fresh.

I'm no expert on Canada..... but i'm pretty sure Montreal and Detroit aren't separated by a bridge like Mr Lawson is saying.

Yep i checked the map....9 hour drive.

**** off Dirrell, you're lucky SHO wants this fight.

He didn't say Montreal and Detroit is a bridge trip away. He said Canada and Detroit is a bridge trip away, which it is. The Canadians can also take the tunnel if they wish.

Leaving Shaw, I can understand. No biggie. Leaving Haymon, I think that's a very ****** move on his part. A lot of TV dates and high purses he was destined to have he can kiss those goodbye. I don't know what he was thinking with that move.

Also IMO Dirrell just said thanks but not thanks to a Bute match up.

I can't blame Dirrell for not wanting to come to Canada, but the kid can't draw flies to ****. There is more drama about finding an opponent for Bute than there is in the actual fights IMO.

Just alluding to the fact Bute typically fights out of Montreal or Quebec City and he is one bringing all the money to this matchup. I'm sure those fans would travel as well as those closer to Detroit, but this is a good opportunity for Dirrell that has fallen onto his lap. Negotiate some thing like this and get as much money as possible, but it seems like it should happen in Canada.

Like others in this thread, this is incredible dumb move. Dirrell has absolutely no leverage to be acting like this. He took a year off, basically faked an injury (not against Abraham IMO, but afterwards) for not being able to grab more money against Ward.

This guy thought he deserved more money against Ward for beating up Abraham, but when even Al Haymon can't secure you more money, you know you have no leverage.

                  Absolutely horrendous career move.

When your career looks like its going nowhere, you take anything. Waste of talent.
