the oldest champion in boxing history

Bernard Hopkins, the oldest champion in boxing history, is set to make a historic title defence at age 47 in a rematch against fellow American Chad Dawson on April 28 at Atlantic City.

Hopkins will defend his World Boxing Council light-heavyweight crown against Dawson in a rematch of a fight last October in Los Angeles that ended in round two when Dawson lifted Hopkins by the leg and slammed him into the canvas.

Hopkins suffered a dislocated joint connecting his left shoulder and collarbone and has yet to resume full training.

Referee Pat Russell awarded the fight to Dawson, saying no foul had been committed, but the result was overturned to no-decision at a December hearing and the WBC ordered a title rematch.

Last May, Hopkins defeated Canadian Jean Pascal by unanimous decision to take the title.

Hopkins, who turned 47 last week, is 52-5 with two drawn and 32 knockouts, while Dawson's record is 30-1 with 17 knockouts.

'Yet to resume training'...Hopkins must be outta his mind, he needs to virtually start now because Chad's gonna come at him like he stole something

I think the question is... will anybody be awake for this? They should hand out free pillows to those in attendance.

I was always rooting for B-Hop, but this time I see Dawson beating him via lopsided UD.

I wonder how much HBO is paying for this? I hope it doesn't put a serious dent on their budget. I was so disappointed by both fighters in the first fight. That this rematch doesn't really intrigue me personally.

I will say this, having this event in the East Coast makes more sense than having it in L.A.

Golden Boy needs to promote the hell out of this fight and have the tickets fairly cheap to get some fans in there.
