Frankie Gomez jailed?

Junior welterweight prospect Frankie Gomez is being held in L.A. County jail after being arrested Wednesday for an outstanding warrant, Ring TV .com has learned.

The undefeated former amateur standout from East Los Angeles was reportedly pulled over by police officers early in the morning. Gomez (12-0, 9 knockouts) wasn't doing anything illegal at the time the officers stopped him, but he was arrested on the spot for an outstanding warrant for an undisclosed prior offense.

There are rumors that Gomez was arrested for drug possession in late 2010. His bail has been set at $30,000.

The 19-year-old prospect, who was signed with Golden Boy Promotions amid much ballyhoo in early 2010, last fought on the Abner Mares-Joseph Agbeko II undercard on Dec. 3.

He was scheduled to fight on the Luis Ramos-Reymundo Beltran undercard earlier this month, but pulled out the bout - which was to be part of the ShoBox: The New Generation broadcast - without stating a reason.

Even though I like him... I will admit I saw that when he went tooth and nail in a recent fight. I forgot which one..... I think it was him.

I think he may lack dedication as stated. First time i seen him fight i thought he was just going to get better but when you lack a good training habit and strong mentality its tough to advance in boxing. What i was worried about his fight recently that he looked like he was going backwards instead of improving.

He got the skills but he needs a good trainer that could sharpen him up. I seen him beat up Benivetez in sparring so he aint all that bad. And heard he was a good amature.

I bet he was found with marijuana and because of this weed we have so many people locked up. At the same time if he didn't take care of his warrent than it's his fault.

If goldenboy doesn't sign him i could see someone else signing him. If i was to sign him to a contract first thing i would do i moving him to another state. Get him away from all his old friends that gets him in trouble.
