I am reading hajime ippo where ippo is fighting a cannabilistic counter puncher that has a corkscrew jab called the bullet which got me interested in counter puncher fighters...



I am wondering which fighter/fight had the best counter punching skills???

Prime RJJ was a phenomenal counter puncher, it's almost as if he knew what punch you were going to throw before you threw it and he countered with vicious combos and side stepped out of the way before you knew you what you were hit with...

James Toney was poetry in motion at his best, up close on the inside slipping or rolling with every shot and coming back with the textbook counter - see Toney vs Barkley

Juan Manuel Marquez is God like in the counterpunching department, he took a violent tornado like fighter in Pacquaio and turned him into a timid little 1-2 type of fighter such was the respect for his counterpunching. Best of all he counters with Combinations that flow like water! Hard shots thrown in too like those lovely uppercuts...

Mayweather is a master in most regards to boxing, counterpunching being no exception. You have to love that pull counter he does. Its as if Floyd has a radar...

I may be flamed for this, but that's fine. But watch Martinez/Bunema for a ridiculous display of counter punching.

Or most recently, Kell Brooks last fight. Not saying these guys are any better than the above mentioned, but its just relevant to the OP. Kell put more Pull counters in a single round than I've seen floyd put in in an entire fight. It was pretty funny to watch, actually.
