Yes, Berto lost to Ortiz, but he didn't look terrible. It was a tough fight, showed us Ortiz was no joke, and was a FOTY winner. Andre Berto is 28-1 (22 KO's), former WBC and IBF Wleterweight champ. Even in the Fall of 2010, Arum put false hope out there that Andre Berto could fight Manny Pacquiao, but instead Manny chose to fight Shane Mosley, who'd just been dominated by Floyd. That left the door open for Berto to give Ortiz a title shot at 147. Ortiz was a decent underdog and most picked Berto to win, though Ortiz pulled off a stunning win, which launched him into the spot as the nest best WW besides Floyd and Manny, and into a highly anticipated Mayweather showdown.

Berto came back and beat a decent guy in Zaveck to win the IBF title and is now on amission to avenge his only loss against Ortiz.

Given that Lou Dibella already said Berto could be ready for May or June if he beats Ortiz, could Andre Berto be a dark horse to fight Mayweather on May 5th???

Also, Floyd was apparently at Berto-Ortiz I scouting Andre Berto and was rumored to want Andre Berto as his first fight back.
Besides round 6 or w/e round that was he looked absolutely terrible. Heck he looked terrible in that round when he tried to go for the kill leaving himself so open and getting hit by the same punch twice lol.

Yes, but it's no tlike Ortiz out classed him or anything, or looked far superior.

I really do hope Andre Berto beats Ortiz, even though I have absolutely no emotion invested in the fight. If Ortiz wins, he won't be fighting Floyd again no matter what, unless he were to go out and beat Khan, Maidana, Alexander, etc. And I don't see that happening.

If Berto beats Ortiz convincingly in the rematch, how can anyone say he's not a legit fight for Mayweather or Pacquiao???????

And if Ortiz beats Berto again, than he is legit too for either of them.

But, I was just saying that Berto didn't look god awful or anything. Yes, Berto gassed, hopefully he's got that fixed, or it will be another long 2nd half of the fight against Ortiz once again. If Berto gasses after the first few rounds again, he needs to KO him early or he will lose. If he has his conditioning in tip top shape, hopefully he does, than I think he'll beat him. I'd like to see him box more, because when he was just boxing Ortiz, he was winning. But, he started trading and Ortiz took over, and won the fight.

It's a possibility, but I'm really hoping it doesn't happen.

Berto doesn't really have the tools to give Mayweather remotely any problems.

What's so bad about Ortiz vs. Mayweather if he beats Berto again? Who knows what would have happened, that fight ended in ******ity.

I just don't see it being made again after Mayweather was clearly beating Ortiz, and after Victor tried to break Floyd's nose, than went to sleep staring at Cortez when they were motioned together.

If Ortiz beats Berto and someone like Khan, Maidana-Alexander winner, than I wouldn't mind a rematch or a fight with Manny for Victor.

i seriously doubt berto can beat ortiz. he looked pretty regular against zaveck. easy to hit, and grasping for air between rounds. it will be tough to outwork ortiz if he brings the same pressure into the ring. berto will have his 6 usual rounds of TKO chance, but if it goes full 12 i expect ortiz win by decision.
and i don't think berto would pose a serious threat to mayweather considering zaveck had 41% hit rate on him, and floyd's accuracy & defense are way superior.
i don't know why people want to see that fight at all. plus berto is with dibella, and is not a ppv draw either.
canelo, guerrero, berto are all crap fights for floyd at this point. pac @ 147 , or cotto/martinez @154.
