50/50 fight I lean towards Donaire. Rigondeaux great amateur but so far I've seen 4-5 of his fights and he looks ok not that impressive even his defensive skills I thought he almost to Cordoba couple years ago. I know Donaire has been fighting a lot of small guys and he doesn't have amateur credentials and defensive skills but imo he will beat Rigo.

i find that pretty funny since he retweeted all these:

      TeamGarcia4 Jonathan Garcia
@filipinoflash beats Guillermo Rigo. Via KO.

@TwoPieceBoxing 2FIGHT him. @filipinoflash v. Rigo will be like Flash vs. Navarez. Rigo was boring & threw almost nothing 2nite. Ramos less.

Rigo still need another one or two fights before I think he should go up against Nonito.

I agree...at least. It's crazy that Rigo might actually be ready for perhaps the #4 P4P guy in the world after only a dozen or so professional fights! SMH

people overrate the importance of professional fights. Before the fight tarver said he would have to be prepared for a seasoned professional, and it was a blowout, exactly the opposite. The bigger factor I think will be rigo has been at 122 for what at least 8 years now? While nonito has not only never been 122 but has been fighting small 118 pounders. Rigo got noticeably bigger this fight and came in under the limit, flash certainly doesn't want any part of this guy. Not because he's scared but because he is a bona fide risk that generates no money. I think he'd rather move up and fight lopez or gamboa before he would fight rigo. Smart move calling him out though, after he destroys the next fighter he should do it again and repeat til he gets the fight.

                Why?

he just made Ramos look like a bum (I hate to use that word for any boxer, but it's true)

Are you aware of Rigo's 400 amateur fights?

I don't think the importance of pro fights is overrated; I think that many people underrate a high number of amateur fights. Rigondeaux has something like 400 amateur wins and about a dozen losses. That's a lot of fighting experience. Not to mention, Guillermo has won two Olympic golds and been amateur world champion.

A successful amateur career is no guarantee of professional success, but it's a good indicator. Traditionally, the winner of Olympic gold has been seen as a favorite to win a pro title. Guys like Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Leonard, etc. were not only Olympic champions, but professional ATGs. There's a definite link

I'm quite aware. And, as I made clear in my earlier post, I'm keenly aware of their value. But 400 (or a million) amateur fights don't necessarily make you ready for a guy many consider the #4 pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Because Rigo was clearly superior to Ramos doesn't mean anything with regards to Donaire. Nonito happens to be clearly superior to Rico as well.

Donaire will destroy Rigo at this point!
